Among the 566 municipalities throughout New Jersey, Ridgewood is one of only four villages in New Jersey, joining Loch Arbour, Ridgefield Park and South Orange. With a population of approximately 25,000 people, the Village of Ridgewood boasts excellent schools, extensive recreational programs and beautiful parks, as well as a variety of real estate choices. Residents of Ridgewood enjoy the many shopping, dining and recreational options offered throughout Bergen County, as well as the borough's close proximity to the world-renowned cultural and entertainment activities in nearby New York City. The Village of Ridgewood Public School system is comprised of nine public schools and one additional school facility, which houses a pre-school program and a private day care center. The village is home to one pre-school, Glen School, six elementary schools: Henrietta Hawes, Ira W. Travell, Irwin B. Somerville, Ridge, Orchard and Willard Elementary Schools; two middle schools, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington Middle Schools; and one high school, Ridgewood High School. The Holmstead School is also located in the Ridgewood. It is a private school that serves students between the ages of 13 and 18 who possess high intellectual potential and have been unable to achieve successfully in traditional school settings. With extensive recreational and entertainment options, a large variety of homes for sale and property types to offer, not to mention the city's close proximity to New York City, it is not surprising that Ridgewood real estate attracts buyers and renters from across the county and around the state. |
