Just seven miles west of New York City, Hackensack, New Jersey offers views of the city from a number of locations and has a population of approximately 43,000 residents. New Jersey routes 4, 17, 46, and U.S. interstate Route 80 all cross Hackensack and dozens of buses pass through the city daily.

Hackensack has an extensive parks and recreation department, and residents enjoy fifteen public parks, numerous playgrounds and programs for children throughout the summer. Children and adults alike utilize the city's many playing fields, basketball and tennis courts and ice-skating rinks. Residents look forward to the annual 4th of July celebration at Foschini Park, a recreation center that offers residents over twenty five acres of land, numerous ball fields, a newly updated field house and trails and walkways.

There are many doctors, specialists and healthcare facilities in Hackensack, including the well-known Hackensack Medical Center, a 529-bed facility with the fourth largest open heard surgery program in New Jersey, and a nationally recognized Institute for Child Development.
